Romany, Diva of Magic is set to charm, amaze and mystify Showzam! festival-goers with seven family-friendly evening shows at The Sands in Blackpool, 16-22 February 2014
Among a record number of performers taking part in Blackpool’s Showzam! festival of circus, magic and new variety in February 2014, internationally acclaimed performer Romany, Diva of Magic will amaze and mystify adults and children alike with seven evening shows demonstrating her extraordinary combination of skills, charm and talents.
A sparkling entertainer in burlesque sequins and feathers, Romany is ready to bring her family-friendly magic show to the nation's home of variety. Performing at The Sands in Blackpool every evening from Sunday 16th to Saturday 22nd February, Romany is returning for her fifth year to the seaside resort, where more than 150 Showzam! performers will tread the boards, walk the streets and dazzle audiences during the 10-day festival.
“Blackpool is blessed with some of the UK’s best venues, attracting top quality acts,” says Romany. “When you add Showzam! into that mix, the city lights up even more brightly with its original, exciting collection of artistes. Its audiences of all ages are so warm, and with such a special range of performances on offer, this astonishing festival just gets better every year.
Romany loves to broaden her horizons and has just returned from performing to passengers on an exotic 12-day cruise from Lima in Peru to Tahiti, via the Pacific Ocean’s legendary Easter Island: “For the past year I've been playing this show all over the world in 1,000-seat theatres on cruise ships. And now my Showzam! performances in Blackpool are a fantastic opportunity to perform my magic up close. This is a show full of beautiful visual magic, plenty of comedy and a big dash of mystery. Wonders happen a few feet away – you won’t believe your eyes!”
No stranger to Showzam! audiences, Romany has previously compered the festival’s hugely popular Carnival Ball in The Tower Ballroom. “Compering the Carnival Ball was one of my all-time highlights,” she remembers. “And performing my solo evening show at The Sands is another fantastic chance to introduce many more adults and children to the wonders of magic.”
Romany has certainly earned her Diva of Magic title, having swept the board of all the highest accolades it is possible to win in the often male-dominated world of professional magic. Awarded a Gold Star by the world-famous Magic Circle, Romany is the first and only woman to have been named Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year and the only British performer to take first prize at the international Las Vegas World Magic Seminar competition. Performing at Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday party is just one of the stunning experiences of her glitzy career.
