Pleasure Beach Offers Action Packed Half Term For The Whole Family
Pleasure Beach Blackpool, the UK’s favourite Amusement Park, is gearing up for the first half term of 2012 by laying on a whole host of workshops, classes and tours as part of Blackpool’s Showzam Festival.
Kicking off the half term is the first Showzam Face Painting Festival on Saturday 11th February. Competitors are invited to the Globe Theatre, found by the entrance of the park for 11am. A series of rounds will be laid on by the park including under 16’s, professional and amateur categories. Entrants will be judged on their ability to paint a models face. Judges will be looking for creativeness, skill, attention to detail and that extra special design. The competition is open to everyone and is completely free to enter.
Dance It is the first free workshop of the half term break. Antony Johns acclaimed choreographer will be busting some moves and getting everyone to join in the fun. Dance It takes place on Monday 13th February.
Tuesday sees Act It kick off with an hour and a half workshop focusing on Soap Operas. You can learn how to be as evil as the infamous Alan Bradley or even get to grips with the Peggy Mitchell slap! The course promises to be packed with heaps of drama and to naturally finish on a cliff hanger. Who killed who? Attend the free course and find out, it could even be you!
Wednesday gets creative with Create It. Join international designers from the Stageworks Worldwide Productions. Get stuck in the world of showbiz costumes by creating fabulous headdresses and masks alongside the team. All the materials are provided for, you even get to take your sequin studded creation home!
Photograph It takes place on Thursday presented by Steve Lee, an acclaimed photographer with studios both in Blackpool and Las Vegas! Bring along your camera equipment and learn how to get the most from it as all the tricks of the trade are revealed.
Waltzing in on Friday is Ballroom It, a guide into how to waltz, foxtrot and rumba just like the stars of Strictly Come Dancing. Choreographers will be on hand to give demonstrations and guidance in all things ballroom dancing. By the end of the course you could perhaps even score a 10 and be crowned Champion Ballroom Dancer!
All the above classes take place from The Horseshoe at 11am, found by the entrance to Pleasure Beach in the art deco Casino Building.
Shake it with Hula Hoop It. Join international hooler hoop star and Britain’s Got Talent sensation, Mawara. Start with one hoop and work your way upto 50! The fun class will have you hula hooping in no time. Hula Hoop It runs from Monday 13th through until Saturday 18th February at 1pm from the Globe Theatre.
The park is also offering a series of backstage tours. Explore the glittering world of Stageworks Worldwide Productions, the theatrical company that produces shows such as Hot Ice Show and Eclipse. The company also create hundreds of costumes each year for theatres, casinos and productions throughout the world. Tours take place on Wednesday 15th, Thursday 16th and Friday 17th February from 11am.

Be guided through the numerous workshops that help create and maintain the parks many rides, take a look at the inner workings of some of the most popular attractions.
