Iestyn Edwards as Madame Galina

Madame Galina or otherwise known as Iestyn Edwards, a burly welsh bloke in a tutu is to appear at Showzam in Variety Notes.

She has wowed audiences all over the UK, from stints entertaining the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan to a private performance for her Majesty the Queen. She has performed sell out gigs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and appeared at most if not all major arts festivals in Europe.

"A rare and perfect synthesis of art and larkiness...waspish, retro-Noel Cowardish wit laced with Nancy Mitford...the audience howled with laughter, stamped and cheered". The Times, July 2004.

Of the many variety acts I've put on in the last 13 years, Madame Galina was one of the funniest and loveliest to deal with. Not only was he hilarious with great rapport with the audiences in Otley and Hebden Bridge but, amazingly, he can actually dance which rather took people's breath away. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Madame G. is a truly marvellous creation and somehow manages to bridge the age gaps from those who remember the glory days of variety acts - to the modern daring of Blackpool’s clubs and cutting edge stand-up. My old Dad would've loved the show (he was a fan of Frankie Howard!), I thought it was terrific and was sorry that my 2 kids - aged 22 and 24 - weren't down to visit last weekend 'cos they'd have loved it too.Enough gushing.

Dear Mr Edwards I am writing to inform you about a very huge organisation in Sheffield. It has massive fan base and is gathering members as we speak. You will be very please to hear that I have elected myself head of the Iestyn Edwards Appreciation Society. Seriously.....I LOVE YOU AND YOUR ACT! Vanessa and I are going to discuss holding an event like Rotherham Follies in Sheffield, for a week. It would be an Anniversary celebration for The University of Sheffield, Union of Students. Vanessa is coming to London on Thursday 15th October to attend The Times Higher Education Awards and would like to come and see you. I will ask her to bring a picture, Please could you sign it for me?
